What's up with all the posts staying up that have nothing to do with feminist activism by a man who clearly has an issue with women and is actually posting things to do with philosophy not activism that are intended to insult and demean women while claiming that men are victimized by women?

There's been a rash of MRAs (Men's Rights Activists--though I prefer Assholes, personally) storming into feminist blogs all over the blogosphere of late, though it had died down for a little while, leaving a trail of death and rape threats and stalkings in their wake. Several of the more prominent bloggers have experienced attempts to track down where they live, etc. -

Fri, November 30, 2007 - 12:49 PMA man who was truly an advocate of equal rights would be an advocate for human rights. A man who claims to be a victim while also claiming the privileges of being male is just pathetic and narcissistic. At least assholes serve a very useful function! -

You know between this comment and some of your other posts all I can say is that I *heart* you. -

Re: is this activist?
Sat, December 1, 2007 - 9:31 AMThanks Jules :-) I've been thinking a fair amount over the past couple of months about feminism, women's and human rights, and society - about where we've come from and where we are currently. Partially because of circumstances and coming face to face with theoretical feminism via work (and I mean this in both the sense that on practical levels it didn't seemed to be feminist in any way, and feminism as theory/philosophy/academia). It seems to me that a great deal of what currently calls itself feminism has become completely detached from women's real lives and needs. And I'm someone who loves and indulges in cultural theory! (Though I've never mistaken theory for practice, or the privileged environment of academia for the real world! ;-)
